Fall Into an Ellicottville Experience!
September 16, 2016

It’s not the “off” season in Ellicottville, NY…it’s the “FULL OF FUN FALL” season and there is always so much to do in the area that it also happens to be one of our favorite seasons to experience all that Ellicottville has to offer.

The busyness of Summer has finally started to slow and you can almost smell the change in the air.   The evenings are now cooler and the foggy mornings in Ellicottville start with a crispness that reminds you that winter will soon be on its way.  Driving through the hills you can now  see a glimpse of the leaves on the trees beginning to give up their green and take on their fall hue.  It will only be a few more weeks until they reach the peak of their rich, deep, vibrant, burnt orange, red and yellow colors as Ellicottville becomes a leaf looker’s paradise! If you have not had the opportunity in the past to experience the breathtaking beauty of the rich Fall colors covering the vast hillside then Ellicottville should be the number one getaway on your to do list for this Fall.

Holiday Valley adds a whole other dimension to enjoying the fall foliage for all of the outdoor enthusiasts as it offers chairlift rides every Saturday and Sunday from 11am- 5pm now through Fall Festival.  You can ride up, pack a picnic and enjoy a quick descent or a nice leisurely stroll back down the hill for only $7 per person with children under  2yrs of age being free.

In keeping with the Fall theme one excursion that you definitely do not want to miss in the Ellicottville, NY area is the infamous Pumpkinville!  General admission and parking are FREE with a nominal fee for some of the activities.  Pumpkinville offers a wide variety of family friendly activities such as an working antique cider press, a six acre Corn Maze, farm animals, Kiddie Spookum Barn, Singing Chicken Show and new for 2016, the Pumpkinville Express Train Ride – All ages can enjoy a train ride around the pumpkin patch and through the tunnel!  Pumpkinville also offers one of the largest selections of pumpkins, gourds and fall themed decorations around as well as freshly made PUMPKIN DONUGHTS (if you have never had a Pumpkinville Pumpkin doughnut of these it’s worth the trip for one these alone…YUM).  Get directions and see Pumpkinville’s hours and attractions here: http://www.pumpkinville.com/

Another stunning Fall attraction in Ellicottville is the Night Lights at Griffis Sculpture Park, where the hills and the sculptures are literally alive with thousands of colored lights.  Griffis Sculpture Park is a 450 acre park founded by Larry Griffis, Jr. and featuring over 250 large scale, steel sculptures, placed along miles of hiking trails.  Griffis Sculpture Park is located eight miles outside of Ellicottville, is not only a tremendous regional attraction, but holds the distinction of being one of America’s largest and oldest sculpture parks. For the past several years SitlerHQ has produced the Night Lights event where the sculptures and landscapes of Griffis Sculpture Park are illuminated with colorful and theatrical lighting. The show will start September 14th and run through Sunday October 9th.  Get the full schedule and pricing here: http://griffispark.org/events/night-lights-debuts-september-14th-2016/
